What Is a Mobile Security Camera Trailer?

Quick answer

A mobile security camera trailer (also called a mobile surveillance trailer) is a towable security unit with cameras on a raised mast, a power system and a connection for remote viewing. Solar models charge their own batteries; others plug into site power or a generator. It parks wherever you need coverage and starts watching right away, with no trenching or permanent installation.

Businesses use them where fixed cameras don’t make sense: construction sites that change every few weeks, yards and lots without power, and short-term needs such as events or the weeks after a break-in.

What's on a GuardVision Mobile Security Camera Trailer, Part by Part

GuardVision mobile security camera trailers come down to the different 14 parts. Here’s what each one does, and how it works on our two models: Titan Solar, our solar-powered mobile security camera trailer, and Titan, which runs on standard power.

01

EQUIPMENT MOUNTING

Camera Housing / Top Head Unit

The elevated head unit provides a central mounting point for the surveillance cameras and siren. Placing these components above ground level helps position the equipment for effective outdoor site observation.

Elevated equipment mounting

02

VIDEO COVERAGE

Surveillance Cameras

Four high-resolution cameras capture activity from multiple angles. Their video feeds support AI-assisted detection and give trained monitoring operators the visual context needed to assess suspicious movement around a site.

Multi-angle site visibility

03

AUDIBLE DETERRENCE

Siren

The integrated siren produces an audible warning when on-site deterrence is needed. Together with GuardVision’s live voice-warning capability, it helps communicate that suspicious activity has been noticed—not merely recorded.

Audible threat deterrence

04

ELEVATED SIGHTLINES

Telescoping Mast

The straight, extendable mast raises the camera head above the trailer to improve sightlines over vehicles, equipment, and other ground-level obstructions. This elevation is valuable for monitoring active jobsites and large outdoor properties.

Elevated viewing perspective

05

SOLAR ENERGY

Solar Panel Array

The solar panel array collects sunlight to help power the trailer’s surveillance equipment. It reduces reliance on temporary electrical infrastructure, making the system practical for remote or changing commercial locations.

Off-grid site protection

06

SYSTEM ENCLOSURE

Trailer Body / Equipment Cabinet

The enclosed trailer body provides a solid base for the mast and solar panels while accommodating the system’s essential electrical and operating equipment. Its self-contained design makes the security system easier to transport and position.

Integrated equipment protection

07

BRAND IDENTIFICATION

Branding / Service Panel Decal

The original GuardVision wrap displays the company name, contact details, and visible safety messaging. This recognizable branding helps identify the monitored location and reinforces the security trailer’s deterrent presence.

Visible security identification

08

POWER CONNECTIONS

Power Cable / Connector Area

The exterior cables and connectors form part of the trailer’s power-routing arrangement, linking the solar and onboard electrical equipment. Keeping these connections organized supports reliable operation in a compact mobile unit.

Onboard power connections

09

LEFT REAR SUPPORT

Rear Stabilizer Jack (Left)

The left rear stabilizer jack provides a ground-contact support point after the trailer is positioned. It helps reduce unwanted movement and works with the other jacks to steady the unit during operation.

Support during deployment

10

BALANCED POSITIONING

Rear Stabilizer Jack (Right)

The right rear stabilizer jack supports the opposite side of the trailer. Used with the left jack and additional support points, it helps establish a balanced, steady base for the elevated surveillance equipment.

Balanced trailer support

11

SIDE STABILIZATION

Side Support Jack / Outrigger

The elevated head unit provides a central mounting point for the surveillance cameras and siren. Placing these components above ground level helps position the equipment for effective outdoor site observation.

Additional ground stability

12

DEBRIS PROTECTION

Fender

Positioned over the wheel, the fender helps deflect water, mud, and road debris while the trailer is being moved. It protects the wheel area and helps maintain the trailer’s exterior during transport.

Wheel-area protection

13

SITE MOBILITY

Wheel and Tire

The wheel-and-tire assembly lets the security trailer be towed and repositioned as site conditions change. That mobility is useful for construction phases, temporary installations, and commercial properties with shifting surveillance needs.

Flexible site repositioning

14

TRAVEL VISIBILITY

Rear Tail Lights / Reflectors

The rear lights and reflectors improve the trailer’s visibility during transportation. They help other road users recognize the trailer’s position when it is being moved between jobsites or commercial properties.

Better transport visibility

Why Texas Businesses Use Mobile Security Camera Trailers

A lot of the calls we get start the same way: something went missing overnight. Maybe a skid steer, maybe a spool of copper wire. Current theft reports put Texas at or near the top nationally for equipment, vehicle and cargo theft, including over the long holiday weekends when many sites sit empty.

Heavy equipment

#1

state for heavy equipment theft in the National Equipment Register’s 2026 Memorial Day report.

Texas had 30% of reported thefts, more than the next four states combined. Jobsites were the most-targeted location, and skid steers the most-stolen machine.

Vehicles

75,269

vehicles were stolen in Texas in 2025, the second-most of any state.

Greater Houston ranked 4th among U.S. metro areas for vehicle theft, and Dallas–Fort Worth 6th.

Source: National Insurance Crime Bureau, March 2026

Cargo

#2

state for cargo theft during Labor Day week from 2021 through 2025, behind only California.

Verisk CargoNet logged 38 Texas incidents in those weeks. California, Texas and Illinois together made up 48% of all cases.

No power or internet out there

Plenty of Texas work happens nowhere near an outlet, like a subdivision before the utilities go in or a pipe yard out past the city limits. Running power for a few cameras on a six-month job rarely makes sense. A solar trailer doesn't need any.

Too much ground for one guard

Laydown yards, equipment lots and big parking lots are hard for one person to keep an eye on, and running wire for cameras out there isn't always practical. From up on a mast, a few cameras can take in much of that ground at once.

Sites that keep changing

Construction moves in phases. When the work shifts to the other end of the property, the trailer goes with it, instead of leaving you with cameras aimed at a finished building.

When security is a requirement

Insurers, lenders, owners and general contractors sometimes want site security in place before work starts. A trailer covers that without waiting on an install.

Two Camera Trailers, Built for Different Sites

Both models are available to buy or rent anywhere in Texas. The big difference is power: Titan Solar, our solar-powered trailer, runs off-grid, while Titan, our standard-power trailer, plugs into site power or a generator.

Titan

Mobile security camera trailer that runs on standard 110V power, with battery backup

Best for: sites with power that want a 25-foot mast, floodlights and an armored build.

Titan Solar

Solar-powered mobile security camera trailer

Best for: sites with no power or internet, such as new construction, remote yards and rural properties.

How Titan Solar Handles a Cloudy Week

Whether solar keeps up is one of the first things buyers ask. This chart follows one of our Titan Solar trailers, our solar-powered model, through five overcast days in a row at our Pearland yard in January 2026.

Its battery never dropped below 41%, the cameras stayed online the whole time, and one sunny day brought it back to 78%.

When a Trailer Isn't the Right Call

If the site is permanent and already has power and internet, a fixed system usually makes more sense than a trailer. That’s what the Maxx permanent security camera system is for. If you just need cameras up on a pole, look at our pole-mounted security cameras, Apex Solar and Apex. Tell us about the site and we’ll point you to the one that fits, even if it isn’t a trailer.

Buy or Rent a Mobile Security Camera Trailer

Every model is available both ways. Buying suits long-term and year-round needs; renting suits projects with an end date.

Buying a Camera Trailer

Best when you need coverage for a year or longer, protect several sites, or own the property you’re securing. The trailer is yours to move between your Texas sites as projects change.

At handover: we set the trailer up on your site, connect it, give your team app access and show you how to use it.

Renting a Camera Trailer

Best for construction projects, seasonal needs and short-term security gaps. You keep the trailer for as long as the job runs.

How to Choose

  • Rent if your project has an end date, you need coverage quickly, or your needs change with the season.

  • Buy if you need coverage for a year or more, protect several sites, or own the property.

What Affects the Cost?

  • The model: Titan Solar (solar-powered) or Titan (standard power)
  • Renting or buying, and how long you rent
  • How many trailers your site needs
  • Monitoring hours: 24/7 or a custom schedule
  • Where your site is in Texas
  • Running costs: Titan Solar needs no fuel or electricity, while Titan runs on site power or a generator

“Criminals look for unprotected sites, especially after hours. Our solar-powered mobile security camera trailers give Texas businesses more than recorded footage. With 24/7 live monitoring, AI-powered detection, and real-time intervention, we help stop threats before they become costly incidents.”
James Hoffman, COO
GuardVision

How we counted: a verified incident is an alert that one of our agents confirmed as a person or vehicle where they shouldn’t be. These figures cover 412 verified incidents at 37 GuardVision trailer sites in Texas from January to September 2026. The time to cameras live is the median across our 2026 Texas deliveries.

What Would Guard Coverage Cost You?

Pay is the floor. The median U.S. security guard earned $38,020 a year in May 2025, about $18.28 an hour (Bureau of Labor Statistics). At that rate, one 24/7 post comes to about $13,300 a month in wages alone. Guard companies charge clients more than they pay their guards, to cover payroll taxes, insurance, supervision and profit.

Questions to Ask Before You Buy or Rent

Camera trailers look a lot alike in photos. The real differences are in how they’re powered, who’s watching, and who shows up when something breaks. Whoever you end up calling, us included, these questions are worth asking.

Does it need power or internet at my site?

If your site has neither, you need a solar unit with its own cell connection. Pick one that needs power and you’re also paying for a generator, the fuel and someone to keep it filled.

Is anyone watching live, or does it just record?

Recorded video helps after the fact. Live monitoring gives someone a chance to stop the theft while it’s happening. Ask whether coverage is around the clock or only during set hours.

What happens when someone shows up at 2 a.m.?

Ask them to walk you through it: how the alert gets checked, when the agent speaks up, and when police get called. If the answer is vague, that tells you something.

How do they keep false alarms down?

When every stray cat sets off an alarm, people stop paying attention. Ask how alerts are filtered and whether a person checks each one before acting.

Can it take Texas weather?

Ask about heat, wind and storm ratings, and what they do with the mast when a hurricane or a bad storm is on the way.

Who services it, and where are they based?

Panels get dusty, batteries wear out and cameras get bumped. Find out who comes out to fix things and how far they have to drive to get to you.

How do I get video when I need it?

For a police report or an insurance claim, you’ll want clips fast. Ask where footage is stored, how long it’s kept and how you get a copy.

What's included, and what costs extra?

Think delivery, setup, maintenance, monitoring, moving the trailer later and picking it up at the end. Ask about minimum terms too, and get it all in writing so you’re comparing real numbers.

Commercial construction site in Pearland, TX

Copper wire kept disappearing from a new build overnight. We set up two Titan Solar trailers with nights-and-weekends monitoring, and the site had no more thefts for the rest of the four-month job.

Distribution yard in Fort Worth, TX

People were getting in through the back fence after hours, where the yard has no power. One Titan Solar trailer with 24/7 monitoring went in within two days, and our agents have since warned off trespassers through the speaker several times.

Car dealership in Katy, TX

Thieves kept going after the back row of inventory at night. A Titan trailer plugged into the lot’s power now covers that row, with live monitoring from closing until the lot opens.

Camera Trailer Questions, Answered

What is a mobile security camera trailer?

A mobile security camera trailer (also called a mobile surveillance trailer) is a towable security unit with cameras on a raised mast, a power system and a connection for remote viewing. Solar models charge their own batteries; others plug into site power or a generator. It parks where you need coverage, with no trenching or permanent installation

Can I buy a security camera trailer, or only rent one?

Both. Titan Solar, our solar-powered trailer, and Titan, our standard-power trailer, are each available to buy or rent anywhere in Texas.

Do you sell or rent camera trailers outside Texas?

No. GuardVision sells, rents, installs and services camera trailers in Texas only. For businesses with LTS, GeoVision or UniFi camera systems, our remote video monitoring is available anywhere in the US.

Is GuardVision licensed in Texas?

Yes. GuardVision is licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Private Security Program, under license #B15656.

Do you work with homeowners?

No. GuardVision works with commercial and business customers only.

How much does a security camera trailer cost?

It depends on the model, whether you rent or buy, how many trailers you need, your monitoring hours and where your site is. Request a quote and we’ll price your site.

How much does a security guard cost per month?

It depends on the hourly rate and the hours you need covered. Round-the-clock coverage takes about 730 guard-hours a month, so at the median U.S. guard pay of about $18.28 an hour (Bureau of Labor Statistics, May 2025), one 24/7 post costs about $13,300 a month in wages alone. Guard companies charge clients more than they pay their guards, so a quote will be higher. Try your own numbers in the guard cost calculator.

How long can I rent a camera trailer?

Rentals are billed monthly with no fixed minimum term, so you can keep a trailer for as long as your project needs it.

What warranty comes with a purchased trailer?

Every trailer you buy comes with a 1-year parts-and-labor warranty. You can extend coverage with a service agreement that includes scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Do you deliver anywhere in Texas?

Yes. We deliver from our Pearland yard to commercial sites anywhere in Texas, including Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Corpus Christi and Beaumont. Delivery is included for most sites, and your quote will show it if yours has a charge.

How quickly can you deliver and set up a trailer?

Most trailers are delivered within 24 to 72 hours of approval, and urgent requests get priority. Once it’s on site, Titan Solar, our solar-powered trailer, takes under 30 minutes to set up. If you need coverage fast, call 281-247-8501.

Who maintains the trailer?

For rentals, maintenance and service are included. If you buy, you can add warranty, maintenance and service-agreement options.

Do camera trailers need power or internet on site?

Titan Solar, our solar-powered trailer, doesn’t. It charges its batteries from solar panels and connects over cellular. Titan, our standard-power trailer, needs a 110V outlet or a generator, plus an internet connection.

Do solar camera trailers work at night and on cloudy days?

Yes. The panels charge the batteries during the day, and the batteries keep the trailer running overnight and through cloudy stretches. On a full charge, Titan Solar, our solar-powered trailer, can run for about five days without sun.

Can I see the cameras from my phone?

Yes. You can watch live video and play back recordings from your phone or computer through the GuardVision app. Access is included with every rental and purchase.

How is video stored, and how long is it kept?

After an incident, you’ll want clips quickly for the police or your insurance company. Each trailer records to an onboard drive that holds about 30 days of video. Ask us for a clip and we’ll usually send it the same business day.

Is monitoring required with a camera trailer?

No. Monitoring is optional, but we recommend it. A monitored trailer lets our agents respond while an incident is happening; an unmonitored trailer only records it.

Is the monitoring done by people or just AI?

Both. AI detection flags people and vehicles, and a live agent checks every alert before doing anything. The agent then warns intruders through the speaker and contacts police when your site’s response plan calls for it.

How do you keep false alarms down?

Two ways. Titan Solar, our solar-powered trailer, uses AI that can tell people and vehicles from animals and other movement, so blowing trash and swaying branches are much less likely to set it off. And with live monitoring, an agent checks every alert before doing anything, so a stray dog doesn’t turn into a call to the police.

Does GuardVision guarantee police response?

No. When an incident calls for it under your site’s response plan, our agents contact law enforcement and document what happened. Response times depend on local agencies

Does GuardVision guarantee police response?

No. When an incident calls for it under your site’s response plan, our agents contact law enforcement and document what happened. Response times depend on local agencies

What stops someone from stealing the trailer itself?

Titan, our standard-power trailer, has an armored build. Both models also carry GPS tracking, a locking hitch and tamper alerts, so our team knows right away if someone tries to move or open a trailer.

Can the trailers handle Texas heat, wind and storms?

The 25-foot mast on Titan, our standard-power trailer, is rated for 70 mph winds. Both models are built to run from -4°F to 131°F. When a hurricane or severe storm is on the way, we lower the masts and, if needed, move the trailers somewhere safer.

Do I need a permit to put a camera trailer on my site?

It depends on your city and where the trailer will sit. On private property you control, you often won’t need one, but some cities have their own rules, and so may a landlord, property manager or general contractor. If the trailer would sit on a street, sidewalk or other public right-of-way, check with the city first.
